Brave Volume....

(7) comments

Top Unsigned band Brave Citizens is currently a featured band on the front page of Purevolume.

BC was also featured in the AP&R section of this month's issue of Alternative Press.

BC has a show on May 31st at Chain Reaction with Nightmare of You and The Graduate.

We have a lot more exciting news that we'll be revealing very soon, so keep checking back for more info on that.

Record Store Day Is Today....

(10) comments

National Record Store Day is today (April 19th).

"On this day, all of these stores will simultaneously link and act as one with the purpose of celebrating the culture and unique place that they occupy both in their local communities and nationally."

It's important to go out and buy a CD from an independent record store in your area. A list of participating stores can be found here.

Support your local unsigned band or local signed band today. If you live in the Arizona area, head out to Zia Records or Stinkweeds.

Did you know that when you buy a CD from an independent store, it counts as 2.5 albums?

Signings Galore....

(72) comments

The new Top Unsigned list will start to come out on Monday and go through Friday of next week.

But I have been told of a few signings off the list and many contracts on the table. I'm not sure if this is normal for the Spring time but there is a lot of label activity.

Obviously, we do not announce signings until the label or band gives the greenlight. So depending on how many announce after the new list comes out, we might refresh the list, before the scheduled three-month period.

This is your last chance to tell us who you want to see on the new list and please leave a link to their music.

Thanks for your continued, positive support!

Parting Ways....

(6) comments

According to their blog, This Providence is parting ways with Sean Gasperettie.

According to Sean's blog, his last show with the band is tomorrow night. He also says he is not leaving the band for any "negative reasons, whatsoever." He recently got married and seems to want to concentrate on raising a family.

This Providence will be going in the studio soon. No word on the producing team, as of yet.

Your Thoughts....

(5) comments

Story Of The Year made a surprise (but good) move to Epitaph and their new album The Black Swan comes out on Tuesday, April 22nd.

Canadian site MuchMusic has a full album stream here.

This album goes back to elements of Page Avenue, but it is no Page Avenue.

What are your thoughts on SOTYs new album?

A New Risk....

(8) comments

Philadelphia's Capitol Risk has went through many lineup changes, over the years, including a recent change with a new lead singer and lead guitarist. Because of that, CR has decided to change their name.

The band has new members, new tours and a new sound. And they want you to help them with some new band names. Head to their blog and help them out!

CR has a lot of upcoming shows/tours to catch. They will be playing with TDC-supported All Time Low on June 7th at Journey's Backyard BBQ. They also have tours with TDC bands My Favorite Highway, The Years Gone By and The Hint.

On May 2nd, they have a live, two-song in-studio performance on FM 104.5 in Philadelphia.

TDC is proud to announce a TDC-sponsored tour with My Favorite Highway (VA), The Hint (MD) and Capitol Risk (PA).

The tour will start the week of June 16th and cover the MD/VA areas, up the East Coast, across to the Midwest and back to the East.

If any TDC bands or other bands living in those areas are interested in opening or closing your local show, please email me at thedailychorus@gmail.com.

In Need Of Sponsors....

(4) comments

Former Top Unsigned band The Widow Jenkins (ex-Emery, ex-Brazil) are hosting their 3rd Annual Rock N' Roll Summer Camp this year.

The camp covers all aspects of the music business but also places campers into band groups so they can perform a concert at the end of camp.

Chris and Bryan of TWJ will be running the camp and are looking for sponsors for the camp. They would like clothing companies, labels, bands (signed/unsigned) and anyone else interested to donate items to the kids of the camp.

If you are interested, please contact them at rnrsummercamp@yahoo.com.

It's Official....

According to Variety, Universal Music Group has officially invested in BuzzNet. No figures were released by other sites have speculated the investment was around $25 million.

This is believed to be the first time a major label has publicly announced an investment and development in a social media site. BuzzNet recently acquired music blogs Stereogum and Idolator.

How does this affect your view of BuzzNet?
